Programme specification

The EduQual Award in Fire Safety: Senior Fire Safety Advisor (SCQF Level 11) is designed to meet the needs of Learners seeking to support fire safety at a senior level in a complex healthcare facility.

The role of Senior Fire Safety Advisor will support the fire safety team in delivering a full service in relation to fire safety and general team objectives.

This Qualification has been produced to conform to the requirements of the RQF, the SCQF, the National Occupational Standards for Skills for Health.

The aims of the EduQual Award in Fire Safety: Senior Fire Safety Advisor (SCQF Level 11) will enable Learners to:

  • Apply theoretical understanding of fire safe at a senior advisory level
  • Critically reflect upon own senior fire safety advisor skills and thereby allow Learners to prepare for this and other senior roles within their organisation
  • Develop a lifelong learning attitude to education and training
  • Gain a critical insight into contemporary research and leading-edge practice within the field of high-level fire safety in an advisory role
  • Develop considerable autonomy in their learning and enhance their ability to plan, implement and evaluate the skills, knowledge and understanding of high-level fire safety advice and guidance in a group context
  • Demonstrate originality and enterprise in approaching complex issues relating to high-level fire safety in an advisory role
  • Demonstrate self-direction, initiative and autonomy in research and scholarship towards solutions to organisational problems in fire safety advice and guidance at a senior level
  • Critically evaluate proposed solutions to operational problems.
